Mack Mercer is the seventeen-year-old protagonist of Stranger.
He is not meant to enter the story as a polished superhero. His fighting style, equipment, and relationship with Matter X all develop through improvisation, injuries, bad situations, and experience.
Family
Mack’s younger sister is Elayne Mercer. Their grandmother, Nona, serves as their guardian after the deaths of their parents, Julian and Jeyne.
As Stranger
Stranger’s combat identity emphasizes movement and close-range weapons. Matter X allows Mack to form constructs such as forearm blades and other improvised tools rather than relying on a single permanent weapon.
His powers can help repair injuries, but that connection between Matter X and old wounds also means his body can become part of the cost of using it.
